Losing the toss, the Saracens were put into bat. A solid opening stand by the Sharmas set the foundation, with Apurv caressing a textbook 38. Ankur was then involved in a 115-run partnership with Waqas, who continued his rich vein of form from Darwin, mustering 61. Ankur scored a magnificent hundred on his Saracens debut, which was epitomized by a couple of glorious cover drives when in the nervous nineties. Simandeep and Nigel finished off the innings in style, adding 35-odd between them in the final few overs to help the Saracens post a mammoth 252/3 off 35 overs.
In defence, Ateeq and I demolished Taipan with the new ball, taking 4 wickets each, as they were fighting to salvage some pride at 25/8. Dawood cleaned up the wagging tail as they were eventually skittled out for 63.
Overall, a brilliant start to the season, but it is just that - the start. Long way to go, Champs!
