It was a great weekend for the KCC Sunday teams this weekend with both Templars brushing aside LSW Knights and the Infidels winning a thriller against the HKCC Optimists.
In the first match LSW won the toss and decided to bat first on a good batting wicket at Mission Road. They were soon regretting this decision as Afzaal Haider and Aditya Kanthan made early inroads and continued to wreak havoc, they were well backed up by some fine Templars catching. In the end only 2 bowlers were used and the innings was completed for just 46 in 12 overs, Adi finishing with career best figures of 5/21 and Affy 4/24. In reply the Templars took completed a 10 wicket win with a bonus point.
In the game of the day the Infidels amassed a competitive 212 thanks mainly to a magnificent hundred from Ankur Sharma. In reply the Optimists looked well on the way to victory at 3/120 but some fighting bowling from Ateeq Rehman, Ankur Sharma, Ashley Caddy and Ehsan Nawas dragged the game back for the Infidels. In a heart stopping final over from Caddy with the score at 8/211, he managed to dismiss the number 9 batsman LBW and then followed up the very next ball to dismiss the number 11 and bring the Infidels a magnificent first victory of the season.
This all sets up a stellar battle next Sunday when the hometown derby commences at Kowloon at 10am between the Templars and Infidels
