It what is always one of the biggest matches on the calendar for KCC, the Premier League side ventured up to the Hong Kong Cricket Club for a T20 match. KCC had 3 players making their premier League debut in Ankur Sharma, Ashley Caddy and coach Ryan Campbell.
Stand in skipper Dylan Deering lost the toss and the home side decided to bat first. HKCA batted aggressively and were always on target to post a big total. Eventually they scored 4/200 thanks mainly to a brilliant hundred from McMahon. The pick of the KCC bowlers was youngster Karan Shah but most bowlers took some stick on the small ground.
Set an imposing 10 runs per over run rate KCC appeared to always have the big total in hand. Openers Waqas Barkat and Ryan Campbell set a solid base and then good contributions from all batsmen maintained the momentum. Barkat in particular was at his brilliant best. Sadly when a century looked his for the taking he was run out for 98. This left experienced duo Roy Lamsam and skipper Deering to finish the job which they did with 1.1 overs to spare.
The Premier League continues this weekend with the playing of the Hancock Shield 2 day match against HKCC away from home. This promises to be the game of the year and all KCC members should make the trip to support your team.
In the other match over the weekend, KCC Infidels struggled against USRC Millennium. KCC batted first and were bundled out for 153, with only Sean Montague and Ashley Caddy making any significant contributions with the bat. Poor fielding then cost the Infidels any chance of pulling off a win as they dropped 6 catches before Milenn
