Infidels Captain's Report 2009-10 21/06/2010
The Infidels had a mixed season this year, making the semis was not a bad result however I honestly believe we could have made it further and that's what we will do next year. Splitting into two teams this year was what the KCC needed to do and we are already starting to see some great young talent coming through and over the next 2 years both KCC teams will be at the forefront of HK cricket and winning trophies. This year however definitely tested player numbers and depth and the end result of making the semis was still a very good effort when at times we really struggled to get a team on the park, however over the season there were some great individual performances as well as team performances. The Infidels I believe struggled this year in stringing performances together and also performing as a team on a regular basis, however when we did perform as a team we showed the competition what we were capable of . The victory of the HKCC Wanderers was a real standout for me this year and next year we should be striving to play like this all year. In this game everyone contributed both with bat, ball and in the field which resulted in beating the team that came third by over 100 runs, this was one of the most enjoyable victories I have had over the HKCC. Peter Wooden came into the Infidels on his arrival into HK and really made his mark on the Sunday comp both with his professionalism and with wickets and runs. He helped us to get into the right frame of mind for games through warm ups and by also showing us the attitude we should be taking into games, I would like to thank Peter for his help throughout the season for organising the warm ups and also his on field advice. A new introduction to the Infidels this year was player fines which Matt I want to be a Crusader Collins looked after and in fact took great pride in looking after. After every game a fine session would be held around the esky, with players receiving fines for genetics , dropped catches, golden ducks, ducks, lateness and general stupidity throughout the game, this built a substantial fines kitty which was used for a very enjoyable end of season lunch. I personally had a very enjoyable season with the Infidels and would like to thank everyone in the squad, as everyone contributed to creating a great team environment. I strongly believe if we keep this team environment up, get everyone to training which will result in us becoming more consistent we will go from making the semis to lifting the Sunday trophy. - Sean Montague CommentsLeave a Reply |
